Why is the 'as-is rule' important?
The as-is rule stops procedures from being works of fiction and can cause fast process improvements (within two weeks) as the system is developed. The as-is rule also removes fear from the workplace as employees can see they will not have new procedures imposed on them. At all times the documented system should accurately reflect the way work is actually done. Manage processes by training, monitoring and coaching not by issuing memos or procedures.
